    Culture, Comfort, & Connection

    Horizon UU Church 1641 W. Hebron Parkway, Carrollton

    Barry Finkelstein and Rachel Maxwell, experienced consultants from Stewardship for Us, will lead us in a training for small and mid-sized congregations, with joint sessions and breakouts. After a break, we’ll meet for dinner and conversation.

    Topics will include:

    • Getting comfortable talking about money
    • The relational culture of stewardship
    • Tips and tools for lay-led fellowships
    • Tips and tools for larger fellowships & congregations

      There is no charge, but please register below so we can plan accordingly. You may also be contacted for information so the facilitators can tailor their presentations.

  • Spirit Play Teacher Training

    For those of you whose congregations are not familiar with it, Spirit Play is a resource you may want to investigate. It is designed to be flexible, for use in smaller congregations where the number and ages of little ones attending on Sundays. It's all about story-telling and response, and is modeled on the Christian program, Godly Play. The materials required vary and are limited only by imagination and creativity; an assortment of art supplies is also required.

    You can learn more about the program at https://www.spirit-play.com/about/ or from a congregation that has used it over the years.
    Please pass the word to those who might like to teach.
    There is a tentative limit of twenty per session, so don't delay in registering.
    Registration closes on midnight, August 10th.


    Seeking to engage children in the existential questions about life within the context of our Unitarian Universalist faith
    Spirit Play is based on story and ritual, play and creativity:
    * Active storytelling is followed by a “wondering” time and then response/activity time
    * Stories access our broad base of sources
    The Montessori-type structure of the program:
    * Encourages independent thinking
    * Promotes a sense of community
    * Develops an underlying sense of the spiritual and the mystery of life
    The program allows for fluctuation in ages and the number of attendees

     

    THIS TEACHER TRAINING WILL BE PRESENTED IN FOUR ONLINE SECTIONS:

    *2-hour training video - to be viewed at your convenience.

    * Assorted demo lessons - early/mid August

    *Adapting Spirit Play for Online Use - Zoom Session
    August 8th, 10.00 am. (includes experienced SP teachers)

    *Teaching With Spirit Play - Zoom Session
    August 15th, 9:30 am to 11:30 am

    Register below - $25* per person.

    Note that a PayPal account IS NOT needed.

    *Training is normally $75.
    NTUUC is providing registration assistance of $50 per attendee.
    You will be emailed the required access codes and links for the meetings and screenings - please do not share these codes.
