About Our Congregation

Worship experience:
We are lay led and have programs by either members/friends or an outside speaker. At the beginning of the service we light candles to share our joys and concerns. We sing three hymns during the course of the service led by our wonderful music director, Sherry Kircus. One Sunday a month we have a UU minister from Houston come in to lead the service. One of the most popular aspects of our service is the talkback at the end (after a short break for coffee and snacks.) The speaker takes questions from the congregation - this often leads to a very lively discussion!

Religious Education:
We employ a member of the surrounding community to watch any children that do not want to stay in the sanctuary. At this time there is no formal RE for youth. For adults, we have various interest clubs, workshops and special events. There is also a potluck the last Sunday of each month following the service.

About Our Congregation

We are a lay led congregation that meets weekly to pursue our spiritual journeys in the context of community. We welcome all who are interested in exploring liberal religion regardless of their faith backgrounds. Our goals are to provide transformative worship experiences for attendees, caring support to our congregation, and service to those in need in the surrounding community and the world.

We come together for Sunday services and related activities. The services are planned and led by members of the Worship Team. Twice a month, we have Unitarian Universalist ministers as our main speakers. On other Sundays, local speakers or members of our congregation provide the main message at the service. The services feature hymns, readings, a period of meditation, a sermon, and piano music. On the first Sunday of the month, a cash offering is given to a social service program designated by the Community Action Team. Child care is provided during the service but children may attend the service if their parents prefer.

Prior to the service, at 10:30 A.M., there is time for fellowship at coffee hour in the Fireside Room. On the second Sunday of the month, all are welcome to a potluck lunch following the morning service.

The board determines goals and sets policy for the governance of the fellowship. They work with the various team leaders to keep the business of the fellowship in sync with the strategic plan. The strategic plan, initiated in 2009, outlines the work of the administrative and ministry teams: Adult Education Team, Building and Site Maintenance Team, Care Team, Child Care Team, Communications Team, Finance Team, Hospitality Team, and Worship Team.

Sacred Journey Fellowship

About Our Congregation

Sacred Journey Fellowship (SJF) is a Unitarian Universalist congregation that embodies UU values thru a primarily Earth-centered liturgy. We are a green congregation which means we reduce, reuse and recycle. Like all other Unitarian Universalist churches, we don’t require you to believe in a particular creed or theology to become a member.

We hold that the strength of a community grows from the efforts and support of each person. Individuals, friends and family members are welcome at SJF. We have a genuine interest in the beauty of all that is you and the story of your journey. Our shared journey includes the common goal to seek knowledge and encourage growth at a pace that is comfortable for you.

Westside Unitarian Universalist Church

Westside UU Church

Welcome to Westside! The Church of the Free Spirit.

Westside Church is a young and thriving church in the near south sector of Fort Worth, dedicated to helping people grow their souls by providing a full program of activities that nourish the mind and spirit. We are creating a community of people united by a covenant of mutual respect and care, embodying spiritual freedom so that people may hear and heed the call of the divine, however they may define that.

On Sundays, our emerging worship tradition is abundant in music and singing, as well as in preaching from the rich traditions of both Unitarianism and Universalism. We are a church dedicated to children as well as adults and offer a complete program of religious education classes for all ages on Sunday.

Throughout the week, a number of small groups and classes meet around the common interests of our diverse and free community: everything from spiritual practice, church history, and the ideas of the Great Books, to quilt making and investments. Newcomer classes are held regularly.

Membership in our church is open to any person 18 years or older who is in sympathy with the purpose and program of this church. It is specifically understood that membership is open to all qualified persons regardless of race, color, sex, disability, affectional or sexual orientation, age or national origin.

Come and be a part of the growing community at Westside Church, "the church of the free spirit."
